Western Reserve Community Band Kicks Off Fundraising Campaign
In celebration of its historic 10th anniversary, The Western Reserve Community Band kicks off its first-ever fundraising campaign to raise money for the purchase of new music and materials. The band is asking community members to consider becoming a Friend of the Band by making a tax-deductible contribution of ten dollars or more in commemoration of its tenth anniversary.
A portion of the money raised will also be used to cover the costs associated with a new concert band work commissioned by the band. On Glory’s Summit, written by world-renowned composer and University of Akron music professor Nikola Resanovic, will make its world premier at the band’s spring concert in March of 2007.
The band has recently been awarded grants from the Ohio Arts Council and the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation to partially underwrite this piece.
“ We hope to raise $10,000 by the end of 2007 through a combination of individual donors, corporate sponsorships and grants,” Anrno Kremer, band president expressed. “It’s a big goal for us, but are excited of what we have accomplished over the past ten years and what we plan to accomplish over the next ten. The community has been very supportive of us over the years and we invite them to help us celebrate our historic tenth anniversary by attending one of our many concerts scheduled in 2007.”
To make a tax-deductible contribution, contact Arno Kremer, Band President, at 330-342-4606 or by email at ACKr1@cs.com.
